Treasurers Report
Nigel presented details of monthly income and outgoings throughout the 2026-26 season. The net result was that the club had £19.45 less income than outgoings this year. This was due to a combination of the transition to a new pitch fee payment scheme and the club contributing to Christmas shindig & meal during the year. The latter two events were planned and agreed at the previous AGM but the former was unexpected but a one off.
Discussion
· Membership – The club has been operating a “subs bench” in recent months. This is a list of would-be players who have expressed an interest in playing and we invite for individual games where we have less than ideal number of regular members available. Those on this list agree to be non-regular players and are aware they will be invited at short notice, usually on a Thursday afternoon. There are 3 players on this “subs bench” at present and it was agreed to increase this to 6 if possible. It was agreed that we will aim to have 16 players for each game and the “subs bench” will be used to try to achieve this.
· Subs – No changes to subs is considered necessary at this time.
· Rules/Guidance . – There were a number of discussions about behaviors:
· Fouls – it was decided that a free kick would be taken from the point at which a fouls is committed rather than returning the ball back to the Goal Keeper.
- It was acknowledged that there have been a few instances of very significant fouls!. Players are to be reminded that no fouls should be committed so any contact that a player could reasonable judge may result in a foul, should be avoided.
-
· Barging off the ball and pushing – it has been noticed that this has become more frequent. While it is recognized this is “part of football” in the competitive game, there is no place for it in social football. Colin will take AP to remind players about conduct in this regard.
· Start time – We now have a team who regularly play immediately after us. We often do not start until 10-15mins after 8pm. Players were reminded of the need to star at 8pm sharp following the AGM last year and little has changed. Therefore, it has been decided that any player not arriving and be ready to start at8pm will be deemed to be a late arrival and noted. Persistent late arrivals may be “subbed” i.e. their membership status swapped with a player from the “subs bench”.
· Off-sides – It was decided that the off-side rule should not be as rigidly adopted as it has in the recent games. The aim of using off-side rule was to stop “goal-hanging” so it was decided that we will no longer play formal off-side rule but players should avoid “goal-hanging” and not attempt to take advantage of this change in approach.
· Goal Keepers – It was felt that teams should rotate goal keepers. It was decided that each team will be obliged to have at least two goal keeping changes (three different players) per game. It will be the captains responsibility to decide who and when this occurs.
- To ensure all players contribute to goal keeping duties a points system will be maintained: each player that serves a goal keeper during the course of a game shall be attributed with an even share of a ‘Goal Keeping Point’ for that game. A record will be kept of these points and a table of players accumulated ‘Goal Keeping Points’ will be made public.
· Team Selection
· It was agreed this is working well
· Kit
· The club has recently purchased new Goal Keeper gloves and has a stock of 7 new balls
· It was agreed that the club would purchase a White and a Black top that can be used when a player arrives at the game without the correct colour top. It is suggested that these have undesirable text or graphic designs as a reminder to the offending player. Suggestions for designs welcomed.
